This past Saturday I attended Dawn Stenis's Schwinn Cert course. It was a long day, but worth it. Interesting to learn about a slightly different 'system' of indoor cycling relative to Mad Dogg's Spinning. Overall the two are very similar, although I found that Mad Dogg goes into greater technical depths while Schwinn keeps things much more approachable. The Schwinn "Teaching Pyramid" is a good fundamental concept and I think it's an excellent way for instructors to focus on the core skills essential for becoming 'great'!
Dawn's in-class rides were terrific and I definitely kicked my own ass - having a believable, calibrated Watt meter by way of the M+Performance Console was super motivating. I wish all indoor cycling bikes had such consoles, and not just those at Shad Hall and MAC.
I look forward to implementing some of the new tid-bits I picked up from the training in my classes.

AMP179 is in the books
Well, today was the final Harvard Business School AMP179 spin class. I love leading the AMP179 sessions as AMP course attendees are all exceptionally driven and competitive.
This final week was 'race week'....Monday we rode a quasi simulation of the US Pro Road Championship course, include the brutally steep climb of Paris Mountain.
See this link for details on the US Pro Road Championships course in Greenville, SC
Today we finished off with a simulation of the Wells Ave Crit (http://www.bostonroadclub.com/wells_ave), a 0.8 mile loop in Needham, MA. Follow this link to view the loop
I happened to bring my camera to today's class so you can see the final sprint to the finish....
Congrats to the AMP179 crew for a terrific session - including the hard core ab crew.
